BBC Report
Who killed the Russian ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko we would probably never know. Whenever there is a hint of foulplay involving the government of any state (mind you, I am not saying the Russian government actually killed him) ..but whenever there is a possibility or allegations made against a govt. then the mystery is almost never solved. So we shall probably never find out who was behind the radiation poisoning of this man or how it was actually done.
Which brings me to the statement by MDP that claims "Opposition leaders in exile have recently received warnings and threats to their physical safety. The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) calls upon the Maldivian government to cease and disavow the use of such violence to silence voices and eliminate challenges to their continued and unencumbered rule." MDP Statement
Now can this really be true? Can Golhaabo be so inhumane that he is willing to even assassinate opposition leaders in order to remain in power?
If the Litvinenko case is the stuff of a Frederick Forsyth novel then this MDP accusation remains far-fetched. However, if the Litvinenko case is really the work of the Russian secret service, then state-sponsored murder is not something that has a relevance only in the past. It exists today.

Wouldn't put it beyond any government in the world. The CIA's got enough skeletons in their closet to constitute a Mexican burial wall.
Much more than a hint.
I mean, Polonium 210 isn't bought off supermarket shelves.
