It was with consternation that I read about our Attorney-General's address on Human Rights Day
Minivan News reported as following "In the address, Hassan Saeed said the real essence of reform was in the mindset of the people and urged them to “demand” and “acquire” their rights, saying such a process had given Maldivians the right to political association and the right to assembly."
If the people has the right to assembly, then why is he still bringing charges against those who participated in the Addu Hiniku Float? If the AG really believes in what he says, then surely he is contradicting his own priniciples by bringing charges against those who took part in this gathering which has been deemed "unlawful".
Perhaps he has never heard of the saying "actions speak louder than words". Or perhaps he thinks that we will all fall for his rhetoric and turn a blind eye to what he practices.

Yeah he's like my 6th grade Dhivehi teacher. Be creative in writing your love letter the dude advised. Be daring in your use of language he said. And then what did he do after I handed in my steamy missive addressed to my paramour who just happened to have the exact same name as the first lady? Call my parents that's what!
