I am a JEW. It's official.
That is according to my friend H.
How did I warrant this honour? Well, it stared as a conversation, turned debate, turned argument, turned fight.
The gist of it was like this.
Me: Everyone should be allowed to study what they want to study
H: No, the government should decide what we should study.
Me: How can the government decide what we should study
H: Only the government knows what is best for the country
Me: What if the government wants someone to study medicine even though he faints at the sight of blood.
H: He will just have to study it.
Me: What about those studying privately?
H: Even they should not be allowed to study what they want. They should study what is good for the country
Me: that is ridiculous.
Blah blah blah fight fight fight
How did I end up being Jewish?
H: What if someone wants to study about another religion?
Me: Well, if someone wants to study about another religion so they should. It is not a bad thing to educate ourselves about other religions
H: You are saying it because you are a Jew. You should go and live in Israel
So it is official. According to my friend not only the government should dictate what we should study, I should also be living in Israel.
If he thought that by saying that to me that I will be offended, he cannot be more wrong. Israel incidentally is a very pleasant and beautiful country, nice place to live if you are Jewish. Ofcourse, if you are a Palestinian then it is a different story but my friend did not say that I should live in Israel because I am Palestinian. So by calling me a Jew, if he thinks I should be offended then he can think again.
By the way, if I should go and live in Israel, then don't you think my friend with his communistic views would fit well into Stalinist Russia? hehe
